Tyson says the Pledge of Allegiance

Tyson has been doing great at preschool and I found out last week during a random car trip that his class says The Pledge of Allegiance every morning.  I had no idea!  We're so proud of him for learning (almost) all of the words so quickly. :)

Check him out!

Quinn's 16 month stats

We had Quinn's 16 month well visit with our pediatrician last week.  Our doctor's office does well child visits at 16 and 20 months during the baby's second year, unlike many offices that do them at 15 and 18 months.

At 16 months, Quinn is:

-22lbs, 2.5 oz (25-30%)
-31 1/2 inches long (65-70%)
-48cm head circumference (90-92%)

She's a healthy, growing girl.  No issues whatsoever at her appointment.  Dr. R asked us if she said at least 15-20 words and when we told him it was more like 50-100, he was shocked.  :)  The girl talks non-stop.  Tyson was no where near this verbal at the same age.  We have a smarty pants on our hands!

She did have to get three shots (including a flu shot).  She took the first two like a champ, but by the third, she was NOT happy.  She did like the puppy band-aids she got though.

Quinn: 16 months!

Hello.  I'm 16 months old today!

I was trying some new clothes on her, so I figured I'd use these photos for her monthly update.  :)

Age:  16 months.

Weight: We'll find out at her 16m well baby appointment on Friday, but somewhere around 21-22 lbs. is my guess.

Height: Again, we'll find out Friday, but somewhere around 30 inches.

Size: Size 3 diapers.  Size 3 shoes are quickly becoming too small, so we're on the hunt for size 4s.  She's wearing mostly 12-18m but a smattering of other sizes.  She's wearing anything from 3-6 months up to 18-24 months, depending on the item.  The 3-6m stuff is mostly dresses, now worn as tunics with leggings, pants or shorts, the 18-24m stuff is mostly tops worn currently as dresses.  :)

Hair: It's really growing.  Still scraggly.  I still can't bring myself to cut it.  See the scraggly in the photo below?

Teeth: 15, with #16 appearing any moment.  We knew the teeth were coming -- her drooling has been out of control.

Sleeping: She's still sleeping great, although we've had a few issues here and there with getting her to sleep, mostly when she's been sick.  She's still going to bed between 7 and 8pm and wakes for the day between 6:30 and 7:30am.  She's pretty consistently taking one long nap around noon for 1.5-3 hours.

Eating: She loves soy milk.  Other than that, she's pretty picky right now.  Not eating as much, but she'll still try just about anything you give her.  She'll throw it on the floor if she doesn't like it, but at least she gives it a try.

Movement: Climbs on anything and can usually get down safely.  She's afraid to climb down the stairs, though.  She's fallen a few times (just a few stairs) and I think it has scared her.

Milestones: Talking up a storm.  She will repeat anything we say and her vocabulary is astonishing to me.  She's just as strong-willed as her brother.  If she doesn't get what she wants, she'll dramatically throw herself on the floor and cry.  She's also so sweet and a bit shy around strangers.

Quinn 14 and 15 Months

Age:  15 months and a few days.

Weight: 21 lbs.

Height: 30 inches.

Size: She's growing!  She still wears size 3 diapers, some 6-12m clothes, but more 12-18m clothes.  I think she'll be permanently in 12-18m when we need sleeves and long pants. She's wearing a size 3 shoe, but we'll be buying 4s soon!

Hair: Getting longer and blonder, still scraggly and uneven in spots, but I can't cut it yet.   Every once in a while there's a trace of a wave or curl, so maybe she'll have some curls at some point.

Teeth: 12!  She added 4 teeth in the last 2 months.  All four top middle, all four bottom middle and her 4 one year molars are through.  She's drooly so I think more teeth will be on their way and then hopefully a break before the 2 year molars.

Sleeping: Great! I love this girl!  She's so easy to put to sleep.  We put on pjs and she drinks her milk while we read books.  We give her a paci, a blanket, a book and lay her down in her crib and she doesn't make a peep until it's time to get up.  We feel pretty blessed in the sleep department!
She's still going to bed between 7 and 8pm and wakes for the day between 6:30 and 7:30am.  She's pretty consistently taking one long nap around noon for 1.5-3 hours.

Eating: She loves soy milk.  We tried mixing a little bit of whole milk for a few days but her diapers were gross, so we went back to straight soy and they're fine again.  She's definitely pickier when it comes to food, but when she likes something, she eats a ton of it.

Movement: She's a walker, no longer a crawler.  She climbs on anything and everything and can get down safely from most spots by crawling down backward.  She has to be supervised constantly or we'll find her standing on the tables.  I wish I were kidding.  She can also open our doors now.  :)

Milestones: Walking, talking a ton, climbing down from heights safely, enjoys riding in the boat now.  Very feisty and opinionated.  She bites out of anger.  So far, it's been reserved solely for her brother.  She also pinches (purposely) and thinks it's funny.

shhh....don't tell Tyson! Quinny had his mower and his Jeep :)

Favorite toys/activities: Climbing, Tyson, brushing her teeth, exploring on her own.

Dislikes: Being told 'no', getting things taken from her, being tired or hungry.

Words: I don't know that I could possibly list out all of the words she says, but we have one very verbal little girl.  She points to things in books and names them...like boat, duck, piggy, kitty.  She calls Tyson 'Ty', courtesy of her big cousin, Morgan.  She says so much, all the time.  I'm absolutely floored by what she knows already.  I hate to compare kids, but she is so far past Tyson when it comes to speech at the same age.

See ya later!

4th of July 2012

The 4th of July might be one of my favorite holidays.  Here are our celebrations in 2011 and 2010.  It was a little different this year -- Daddy had to work and Uncle Reggie and Aunt Jaime were home with their new baby girl.

We ventured to the Nappanee 4th of July parade.  Tyson loved it.  He got to ride all around town with grandpa in Uncle John's Gator.  Quinny, grandma and I enjoyed the parade from a shady spot on the route.

Quinny, ever disapproving, waited patiently for the parade to start.

There's just something so American about a small town parade.  The police car started it off.

Flags -- notice the guys watching from the other side of the street -- one with his hand over his heart, the other saluting.

Quinn wasn't too thrilled with all of the loud noises from the horns and sirens but she LOVED her first lollipop. :)

We found Tyson after the parade was over, still sitting in the Gator. :)
