I had no idea! We're so proud of him for learning (almost) all of the words so quickly. :)<br />
<br />
Check him out!<br />

Our doctor's office does well child visits at 16 and 20 months during the baby's second year, unlike many offices that do them at 15 and 18 months.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8034/8057782635_7def29489f.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8034/8057782635_7def29489f.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
At 16 months, Quinn is:<br />
<br />
-22lbs, 2.5 oz (25-30%)<br />
-31 1/2 inches long (65-70%)<br />
-48cm head circumference (90-92%)<br />
<br />
She's a healthy, growing girl. No issues whatsoever at her appointment. Dr. R asked us if she said at least 15-20 words and when we told him it was more like 50-100, he was shocked. :) The girl talks non-stop. Tyson was no where near this verbal at the same age. We have a smarty pants on our hands!<br />
<br />
She did have to get three shots (including a flu shot). She took the first two like a champ, but by the third, she was NOT happy. She did like the puppy band-aids she got though. <br />

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8029/7993505875_ef5f282ec4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8029/7993505875_ef5f282ec4.jpg" width="426" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
I was trying some new clothes on her, so I figured I'd use these photos for her monthly update. :)<br />
<br />
<strong>Age: </strong>16 months.<br />
<br />
<strong>Weight</strong>: We'll find out at her 16m well baby appointment on Friday, but somewhere around 21-22 lbs. is my guess.<br />
<br />
<b>Height</b>: Again, we'll find out Friday, but somewhere around 30 inches.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8304/7993516002_74b49cecea.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8304/7993516002_74b49cecea.jpg" width="426" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<b>Size</b>: Size 3 diapers. Size 3 shoes are quickly becoming too small, so we're on the hunt for size 4s. She's wearing mostly 12-18m but a smattering of other sizes. She's wearing anything from 3-6 months up to 18-24 months, depending on the item. The 3-6m stuff is mostly dresses, now worn as tunics with leggings, pants or shorts, the 18-24m stuff is mostly tops worn currently as dresses. :)<br />
<br />
<b>Hair</b>: It's really growing. Still scraggly. I still can't bring myself to cut it. See the scraggly in the photo below? <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8320/7993514646_632f31336d.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8320/7993514646_632f31336d.jpg" width="426" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<b>Teeth</b>: 15, with #16 appearing any moment. We knew the teeth were coming -- her drooling has been out of control. <br />
<br />
<b>Sleeping</b>: She's still sleeping great, although we've had a few issues here and there with getting her to sleep, mostly when she's been sick. She's still going to bed between 7 and 8pm and wakes for the day between 6:30 and 7:30am. She's pretty consistently taking one long nap around noon for 1.5-3 hours.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8435/7993506909_0e76aa8860.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8435/7993506909_0e76aa8860.jpg" width="426" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<b>Eating</b>: She loves soy milk. Other than that, she's pretty picky right now. Not eating as much, but she'll still try just about anything you give her. She'll throw it on the floor if she doesn't like it, but at least she gives it a try.<br />
<br />
<b>Movement</b>: Climbs on anything and can usually get down safely. She's afraid to climb down the stairs, though. She's fallen a few times (just a few stairs) and I think it has scared her. <br />
<br />
<b>Milestones</b>: Talking up a storm. She will repeat anything we say and her vocabulary is astonishing to me. She's just as strong-willed as her brother. If she doesn't get what she wants, she'll dramatically throw herself on the floor and cry. She's also so sweet and a bit shy around strangers.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8445/7993515030_c879bb49e1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8445/7993515030_c879bb49e1.jpg" width="426" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8297/7848326818_7e88e4eef0_z.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8297/7848326818_7e88e4eef0_z.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<strong></strong><br />
<strong></strong><br />
<strong>Age: </strong>15 months and a few days.<br />
<br />
<strong>Weight</strong>:
21 lbs.<br />
<br />
<b>Height</b>: 30 inches.<br />
<br />
<b>Size</b>: She's growing! She still wears size 3 diapers, some 6-12m clothes, but more 12-18m clothes. I think she'll be permanently in 12-18m when we need sleeves and long pants. She's wearing a size 3 shoe, but we'll be buying 4s soon!<br />
<br />
<b>Hair</b>: Getting longer and blonder, still scraggly and uneven in spots, but I can't cut it yet. Every once in a while there's a trace of a wave or curl, so maybe she'll have some curls at some point. <br />
<br />
<b>Teeth</b>: 12! She added 4 teeth in the last 2 months. All four top middle, all four bottom middle and her 4 one year molars are through. She's drooly so I think more teeth will be on their way and then hopefully a break before the 2 year molars. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7264/7848331162_a2f38fdd58.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7264/7848331162_a2f38fdd58.jpg" width="426" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<b>Sleeping</b>: Great! I love this girl! She's so easy to put to sleep. We put on pjs and she drinks her milk while we read books. We give her a paci, a blanket, a book and lay her down in her crib and she doesn't make a peep until it's time to get up. We feel pretty blessed in the sleep department!<br />
She's still going to bed between 7 and 8pm and wakes for the day between 6:30 and
7:30am. She's pretty consistently taking one long nap around noon for 1.5-3 hours.<br />
<br />
<b>Eating</b>: She loves soy milk. We tried mixing a little bit of whole milk for a few days but her diapers were gross, so we went back to straight soy and they're fine again. She's definitely pickier when it comes to food, but when she likes something, she eats a ton of it. <br />
<br />
<b>Movement</b>: She's a walker, no longer a crawler. She climbs on anything and everything and can get down safely from most spots by crawling down backward. She has to be supervised constantly or we'll find her standing on the tables. I wish I were kidding. She can also open our doors now. :)<br />
<br />
<b>Milestones</b>:
Walking, talking a ton, climbing down from heights safely, enjoys riding in the boat now. Very feisty and opinionated. She bites out of anger. So far, it's been reserved solely for her brother. She also pinches (purposely) and thinks it's funny.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8291/7848329648_7b438b8546.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8291/7848329648_7b438b8546.jpg" width="426" /></a></div>
<br />
shhh....don't tell Tyson! Quinny had his mower and his Jeep :)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7140/7848329196_ac61c4aa1f.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7140/7848329196_ac61c4aa1f.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<br />
<b>Favorite toys/activities</b>:
Climbing, Tyson, brushing her teeth, exploring on her
own.<br />
<b></b><br />
<b>Dislikes</b>: Being told 'no', getting things taken from her, being tired or hungry.<br />
<br />
<b>Words</b>: I don't know that I could possibly list out all of the words she says, but we have one very verbal little girl. She points to things in books and names them...like boat, duck, piggy, kitty. She calls Tyson 'Ty', courtesy of her big cousin, Morgan. She says so much, all the time. I'm absolutely floored by what she knows already. I hate to compare kids, but she is so far past Tyson when it comes to speech at the same age.<br />

Here are our celebrations in <a href="http://www.babyholt.blogspot.com/2011/07/happy-4th-of-july.html" target="_blank">2011</a> and <a href="http://www.babyholt.blogspot.com/2010/07/happy-4th-of-july.html" target="_blank">2010</a>. It was a little different this year -- Daddy had to work and Uncle Reggie and Aunt Jaime were home with their new baby girl. <br />
<br />
We ventured to the Nappanee 4th of July parade. Tyson loved it. He got to ride all around town with grandpa in Uncle John's Gator. Quinny, grandma and I enjoyed the parade from a shady spot on the route.<br />
<br />
Quinny, ever disapproving, waited patiently for the parade to start.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7131/7579667238_b8d6342039.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7131/7579667238_b8d6342039.jpg" width="426" /></a></div>
<br />
There's just something so American about a small town parade. The police car started it off.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7274/7579668188_e59d0b8142.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7274/7579668188_e59d0b8142.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Flags -- notice the guys watching from the other side of the street -- one with his hand over his heart, the other saluting.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8167/7579666538_2e6d6c3941.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8167/7579666538_2e6d6c3941.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8157/7579665496_524a30c4c7.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8157/7579665496_524a30c4c7.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7268/7579664614_3437fa3780.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7268/7579664614_3437fa3780.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7274/7579663898_10f54840c0.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7274/7579663898_10f54840c0.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Quinn wasn't too thrilled with all of the loud noises from the horns and sirens but she LOVED her first lollipop. :)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8292/7579662708_bc2d736888.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8292/7579662708_bc2d736888.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
We found Tyson after the parade was over, still sitting in the Gator. :)<br />

<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5036/7415167968_59ac1cb8ec.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5036/7415167968_59ac1cb8ec.jpg" width="640" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Photo: Kristen Gray Photography</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
<strong>Age: </strong>13 months and a few days.<br />
<br /><strong>Weight</strong>: My guess is right around 20 lbs.<br />
<br /><b>Height</b>: Somewhere right under 30 inches.<br /><br /><b>Size</b>: No change. Size 3 diapers,
6-12m clothes, still some 9m stuff, some 12m, can still wear 6m onesies.
She wears either a size 2 or 3 shoe (since we're wearing shoes more regularly now!) depending on the brand, and her hats need to be 18-24m to accomodate her huge noggin. :)<br /><br /><b>Hair</b>: Longer, getting kind of scraggly and uneven in spots. I still think she needs a cut to shape up her pixie, but I'm not ready to do it yet.<br />
<br /><b>Teeth</b>: 8! The top 4 middle, bottom 2 middle and 2 upper first year molars. <br />
<br />
We're pretty sure she's working on some more because she's been a bit cranky, has had a perpetual runny nose, drooly and reaching for things to chew on. The top two molars popped through without causing too much stress for her so we were quite surprised to see them.<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5275/7415169900_ebfe052ef4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5275/7415169900_ebfe052ef4.jpg" width="426" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Photo: Kristen Gray Photography</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<b>Sleeping</b>: Great! Goes down for the night somewhere between 7 and 8pm and wakes for the day between 6:30 and 7:30am. We thought she was dropping her morning nap, but in the last week, she's needed it again. Probably those new teeth! So she's anywhere from 1-2 naps per day.<br /><br /><b>Eating</b>: She's completely on soy milk and her eating has started to take a bit of a turn. We used to be able to count on her to eat anything and everything and in pretty large quantities for such a small girl. Now, she's much more selective on what she eats and doesn't seem to be eating as much at every meal.<br />
<br /><b>Movement</b>: Big changes here! She's taken her first unassisted steps :) She's starting to walk unassisted about 25% of the time. The rest of the time, she'll either cruise with furniture or holding hands or crawl quite fast.<br />
<br />
She's an absolute daredevil. The girl will climb on anything and everything. She frequently climbs up Tyson's little table in the kitchen and stands up on top of the table. She even climbed up the slide in our backyard last night. By herself. All the way to the top. :Lord, help me: <br />
<br />
She's also getting pretty good at standing up from a seated position on the floor without pulling up on anything. For whatever reason, I thought that was a much later skill for toddlers.
<br /><br /><b>Milestones</b>: Done with formula, walking, more teeth. <br />
<br /><b>Favorite toys/activities</b>: Climbing, Tyson, brushing her teeth, exploring on her own.<br />
<b></b><br />
<b>Dislikes</b>: Being
hungry or tired, Tyson taking his toys away from her. <br /><br /><b>Words</b>: Hi, Mommy and Daddy (both clearly enunciated). Lots of other "words". I think she says "ma", meaning milk and loads of other random babble and grunts. Love the grunting. :)<br />

Yay!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7082/7218897606_057536930b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7082/7218897606_057536930b.jpg" width="426" /></a></div>
<br />
<strong>Age: </strong>12 months!<br />
<br />
<strong>Weight</strong>: 19-20 lbs, but we'll know for sure on Tuesday.<br />
<br />
<b>Height</b>: Not sure.<br />
<br />
<b>Size</b>: Not much change from last month. Size 3 diapers, 6-12m
clothes, still some 9m stuff, some 12m, can still wear 6m onesies.
<br />
<br />
<b>Hair</b>: Growing longer, lighter at the roots. I think she's going to need a haircut soon because of the rat tail she's growing. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7217/7218898440_93b548d0e0.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7217/7218898440_93b548d0e0.jpg" width="426" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<b>Teeth</b>: 6.
She still just has 2 teeth on the bottom but 4 on top. I think another bottom tooth is going to pop through soon.<br />
<br />
<b>Sleeping</b>:
For the most part, amazing! She's started sleeping through the night regularly and but for a few random nights (probably teething), she's not waking at night any more. She's taking 2 naps per day, longer one in the morning and a shorter one in the afternoon. She goes to bed at night between 7:00-7:30pm and has been waking up pretty consistently around 6:30am.<br />
<br />
<b>Eating</b>: Not much change here. She eats anything and everything. She regularly eats 3 meals each day, plus a few snacks. We're officially done with bottles and she is drinking a mixture of soy formula and soy milk in a sippy cup 3 times per day. As soon as the formula is gone, she'll go straight to soy milk.<br />
<br />
<b>Movement</b>: She can stand alone, but she will not take steps. She'll cruise and crawl everywhere and she'll walk behind push toys or holding a single finger. She is quite daring and will climb on anything. She'll even crawl in the grass. <br />
<br />
<b>Milestones</b>: Done with bottles, first birthday!<br />
<br />
<b>Favorite toys/activities</b>: Tyson.
Baths. Eating. Tyson's toys. Climbing. Tyson's books. Brushing her teeth. Weird, I know. :)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5119/7218897386_1fb465bd7f.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5119/7218897386_1fb465bd7f.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<b>Dislikes</b>:
Being hungry or tired, Tyson taking his toys away from her.
<br />
<br />
<b>Words</b>: Hi, mama, some times dada, she will repeat words.<br />
<br />

Happy Birthday Sweet Quinn!IU_mamahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02135725681515501516noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1388839984914542925.post-54188189942331996042012-05-15T00:03:00.000-04:002012-05-15T00:03:06.511-04:00Our big three year old!The night before his birthday, I hung streamers from his door and threw balloons on the floor of his room.
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7097/7200756246_e6eaa2b1f7.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7097/7200756246_e6eaa2b1f7.jpg" width="426" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The balloons backfired on me a bit since he woke up just before 5am and brought a balloon into my room :) Luckily, he went back to sleep easily!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7217/7200756698_9d2a46f5ef.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7217/7200756698_9d2a46f5ef.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Good morning birthday boy!</div>

<br />
I'm THREE!!<br />

<br />His actual birthday fell on a Monday this year and we both had to work so we opened presents later that evening.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5444/7200758018_0e1d02dbff.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5444/7200758018_0e1d02dbff.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I love how he takes the time to read his book before moving on to the next gift. :)<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7230/7200758456_f5b33d0ff5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7230/7200758456_f5b33d0ff5.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8165/7200759480_5523a68e32.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8165/7200759480_5523a68e32.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />Lastly, a rare Tyson moment a few days later. It's not very often that I can catch his sweet face sleeping (without waking him up).<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7227/7200760258_a8a8a94aca.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7227/7200760258_a8a8a94aca.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
At his 3 year appointment, he weighed 37.2 lbs (95%) and was 39 inches tall (90%). We have a healthy growing boy! <br />

Everyone says it, but it's so true. It feels like yesterday that we were in the hospital waiting for him to arrive.<br />
<br />
This sweet little boy has blessed and challenged us in ways we never thought possible.<br />
